You’d think it was another day on the farm, but noooo it wasn’t. A day of butt busting work and a day of pure awe. We as preppers, always prefer to be rural. Many, many people live in cities, suburbs and surrounding areas. I just got lucky and moved back to my family homestead for a while. Water is not a problem like it was in Utah. Down there I was concerned if SHTF, we would not have enough.
I have a garden but unfortunately like so many it’s just not pollinating like it should. Is anyone else dealing with this issue with their plants? I just do not see the bees like I use to. This is scary. I have heard through the grapevine that this is not just my issue, but everyone is having difficulty getting pollinated. I watched Poplar Preparedness this morning and he made note that bananas and zucchinis are hard to find. I have a few zucchinis, but I don’t grow bananas lol. I just don’t understand what happened to the bees. I see a few butterflies, but no honeybees. Please share your story in the comments or message me here. I’d like to have a better understanding.
So, second to that, we baled hay yesterday. I must have walked the field twenty times behind the baler. It was tiring but fulfilling to see all the hay we got. Now the fun part begins this weekend when we pick it up out of the field. Sorry, this is kind of allover today. I did learn about the baler, as I worked with my dad to fix the knotter that feeds the string. It’s good to learn new skills as someday they might come in handy. I just enjoyed getting greasy and helping my dad. He has taught me so much over the years.
Today, we had a 100-foot Sequoia tree that needed to come down. Wow, just wow the skills of those tree topping workers was amazing. It’s pretty cool to see them scale the 100-foot tree and take it down bit by bit. The skill of those guys is amazing. They dropped ten-foot sections on a dime. All and all it’s been a pretty fulfilling couple days and I took a few minutes to blog on here.
Every day it seems I learn a new skill. I know I am a broken record about this if you have read my past blogs, but it’s so important. Everything is getting more expensive: gas, groceries, etc. I just don’t see this ending well for some reason. It just keeps going up. Learning to fix small engines or can green beans, will be a benefit someday, mark my words. I am a farm girl, and you can put me in the burbs, but I am still a farmer’s kid. I enjoy working out here and learning something most days. Even if you live in the city or suburbs, there are skills you can acquire. I am not saying SHTF is tomorrow, but doesn’t it seem worthwhile to try and learn a skill every month? I guarantee it will benefit you.
Thanks for reading, this post today was a little scattered just because I did not have time to research anything but wanted to get something out. Please subscribe for more focused information next time lol. Time to chill for a couple days. Going to see Drake Milligan in concert next week. Have a great week y’all.

Very concerning with the bees being gone. We still have them in AZ, but not as many as in other years. Good job with the qtip!!!
Pesticides and herbicides are killing the bees. I think it's called hive death or something like that. There are also aggressive insects that raid the hives and kill the bees, but it's been a long time since I read about it. Maybe someone else can fill in. There is a way to pollinate your crops with a small brush but maybe someone has come up with something more efficient by now.
